February Fancies
A warmer sun prowls his return,
his adoring moon drinks the heat,
casting her provocative ribbons
upon all who stir below.
Flowers awake, whispering renewal beneath the melt.
Village heroes test the earth for fertility,
ladies blush and shed their hoods,
eyes begin to glance beneath lowered lashes,
arms slowly reach for warmth and twine.
The cosmos smiles amid pinkening clouds,
softer winds carry the sweetly secret messages
of Saint Valentine.
