World Wide Day of Action to End Fossil Fuels

Chris,

After a summer of unprecedented wildfires and extreme heat, more people than ever are waking up to the climate emergency, but we will only force politicians to take real action on this crisis if we turn that anxiety into action.

That’s why I hope you’ll make a plan to attend both of these important mobilizations happening in Ontario next week.

September 17: Status for All Rallies and Marches

Climate justice is a global fight and Canada must play a big role in ensuring justice for all people. On the day before Parliament resumes, Migrant Rights Network is mobilizing in 12 cities across the country to demand safe status for all undocumented people.

We want to make sure there’s a strong climate contingent at each of these rallies and marches, so make a plan to be there. Building solidarity across movements is how we will win. Here’s a list of all the Status for All actions planned in Ontario:

Kingston: 841 Princess Street at 11 AM
London: Victoria Park at 1 PM
Ottawa: Parliament Hill at 11 AM
St. Catharines: MP Chris Bittle's Office at 2 PM
Sudbury: Memorial Park at 1 PM
Toronto: Bloor and Yonge at 2 PM

The climate crisis is escalating, but in response so is the global movement for climate justice. Across Canada and around the world, we are coming together to fight for the better, fossil-free world we know if possible.

I hope to see you there next week!

I went to the demo across from Peterborough City Hall on Friday, Sept. 15. There was a large crowd of friendly people of all ages, mostly students. I'd estimate the crowd was at least 200. I parked at Del Crary Park by  the marina, and walked to the demo along the beautiful waterfront trail. It was a bright sunny day, and I'm glad I went to the first demo I've attended since before the covid pandemic.
