A-frame 'workday'

I was able to take an afternoon off yesterday from interminable mowing & path clearing at ZenRiver prepping for PurdyFest #7 to join the workday at the Purdy A-frame in Ameliasburgh. Next weekend is their first open house/picnic. My main contribution, after sweeping the famous deck, was doing some 'zen' pruning on the small point jutting into Roblin Lake. This was Al's favourite spot, which he created by hauling hundreds of barrow loads of rocks & detritus. Lakefront is sold by the foot, & Al & Eurithe couldn't afford the extra cost of a 'point', which they dearly wanted, so they just created their own. After the other volunteers left, I went for a dip in the lake while Chase served as lifeguard. Then I daydreamed while drying off, relaxing on the old wooden lounger on the deck.  Oh, & I finally got to visit inside the A-frame, courtesy of Matty, the project coordinator. Even got to rub the head on Al's bust of D. H. Lawrence while on the tour :  )    perfect poetry day

familiar faces
in the willow bark
on Big Al's point

stumbling into the lake
off Al's old rockpile:
even sober

late afternoon
voices whisper
willow words
