Learning how to learn …
“It begins with a blessing
It ends with a curse
Making life easy
By making it worse …”
Soft Machine {musical group}
Lyrics by Kevin Ayers
There are twelve to thirteen new moons every year. Each new Moon provides an opportunity to let go of whatever is holding us back. Each new Moon can assist us in renewing our contract with life.
This is a radical new Moon. We sit back and wait for something to grab us by the heart, by the throat, and change us. That is not the nature of any new Moon. Each New Moon is our whisper — a radical whisper.
You don’t know that you have been a victim. You have taken on someone else’s memory. This is how it sounds; 17 years ago you said blah blah. I and everyone you meet is capable of nailing you to the cross they have constructed for you.
The lights this time in the form of the new Moon and the Sun, give you an opportunity to declare to yourself — I have changed.
A young woman …
Dead rocks and fossils don’t change. We can all dip into the shadows of believing that we are the judge of another. Meanwhile some of us have surfaced from deep water. Some of us have had to fight to maintain an open heart.
You can use this new Moon, any new Moon to let go of the poison brewing in your own heart and head. We are all making this planet better or worse; we are all in school.
What does this have to do with the new Moon in Virgo? I will listen to someone who has risen out of their own ashes. I won’t do this for anyone who knows everything there is to know about right and wrong.
Just as we all have the White Wolf and the Black Wolf fighting to the death, inside each of us, we have the gift of turning our face to the rising light that is every day.
Thematically, Virgo is both earth and mutable. Virgo represents our quality of mind. But there is a danger inherent in this last of the first six signs. That danger is about leaving the herd to think for oneself. All of us have some form of group identification. Before age 25 we have attitude. After age 25 we begin to gain experience. Experience is another word for making mistakes. Old men send young man into war to die. And some young men go because their brains are not developed. Between ages 25 and 27 the frontal lobes of the brain mature, as we approach our Saturn return at 27 years old. And, yes, — there is such a thing as a justifiable war.
The sign of Virgo, in it’s tidings of seeds and regeneration, of harvest, informs all of us, that this shifting earth is the only planet we have, the only home we have. Our species has reached a level of great power, and no moral sense of how to use that power.
These are also dangerous illusions. We do not rule this planet. Killing each other, doesn’t mean much to Gaia, except perhaps the sooner the better. We are building more robust bacteria. Then that new pathogen comes for us with a sneeze, and the planet rebalances itself. This is all Virgo’s domain. Discrimination, analysis, separation from the herds of nerds — we imagine that we have the God-given right to cast the first stone.
There are two healing sources in our horoscopes that both embody the mysteries of healing; the signs of Virgo and Pisces. Virgo heals through precision, the allopathic way. And Pisces is the symbol of healing through meditation, yoga, martial arts, dance, music, laughter, prayer and all forms of the dissolution of the ego.
We all have that walk through the desert that is the sign of Virgo. Leaving the first five signs behind, leaving childhood behind, leaving the hit-you-hit-me cycle behind, to begin to hear a different music, a different voice.
In the next 28 days, take what is healing from this immense change of seasons, in the northern hemisphere. Do we need more war aka — women and children dying are merely numbers, or do we need to care for and about each other?
“ I could have done better.”
“Mommy and daddy did the best they could.”
“I made a mistake.”
“I am a mistake.”
Here is what we have in common:
Men hate women. Women hate women.
This is all the symbolism of Virgo. Why? Analysis is a tool, not a weapon. Some of this is a misuse of our big brains. Tread lightly on the earth.
