Buoyant blog of septuagenarian Kanadian poet and lifelong haikuist Chris Faiers/cricket. Poetry, esp. People's Poetry in the tradition of Milton Acorn, haiku/haibun, progressive politikal rants, engaged Buddhism and meditation, updates on the revitalizing of Callaghan's Rapids Conservation Area, memories of ZenRiver Gardens retreat near Marmora and annual Purdy Country LitFests (PurdyFests), events literary and politikal, and pics, amid swirling currents of earth magick and shamanism.

Now, I'm trying to think whether the Blue Buddha originally came in that colour or whether it was the result of a later DIY upgrade. In any case, the Blue Buddha--aka the Medicine Buddha--was an auspicious choice for your earthquake memorial.

"If one meditates on the Medicine Buddha, one will eventually attain enlightenment, but in the meantime one will experience an increase in healing powers both for oneself and others and a decrease in physical and mental illness and suffering."

Yes to Medicine Buddha and Green Tara, may they intercede in Japan now! Lovely poem, Chris.
Look for the national haiku contest I'll be judging. Details on wwww.mytown.ca/pennletter in early April.
Cheers,
