Every Star Dies: Katherine L. Gordon

Every Star Dies

In a shatter of time
moments are flung
into the flickers
of rusted lamp-posts
lighting dim pathways
into forgotten woods
reflecting back
the wane of wonder
flayed pleasure
loss and longing
forest of regret
moments squandered
before time was declared
no hand can retrieve
even the grasp of purpose fades
we are somehow disassembled
as the years uncarve.

Katherine L. Gordon

Earth Now Voiceless

A night-bird
called the season
summoning light
singing a wind
to shake the trees
melt the rivers.
The moon sailed
the sun swam
but the frozen earth
without a tongue.

Katherine L. Gordon
